RESEARCH INTEREST and SKILLS

My research focuses on the development of gene/drug delivery systems that enhance the therapeutic activity of the incorporated gene/drug molecules while eliminating or minimizing their potential side effects. Also, I have designed perfluorocarbon loaded-nanodroplets for ultrasound-mediated cellular ablation without using any drug. Further I am interested to engineer a Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy based nanobiosensor for the detection of bacteria, tumor cells, and food contaminants. Specific areas of research include:

  • Design and synthesis of “smart” particles for drug delivery (pH sensitive and thermoresponsive), and gene delivery,
  • Design ultrasound-based immunotherapy,
  • Development of bone-targeted nanoparticles for therapeutic and imaging systems,
  • Development of targeted nanoparticles for ultrasound imaging/therapy, gas-encapsulated nanodroplets,
  • Controlled polymerizations methods, (Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP),
  • Click chemistry, surface modification
  • Development of PDMS surfaces and novel materials for diagnostics and biosensors applications
  • Applications of nanotechnology in biology and medicine
  • Synthesis and modification of gold and silver nanoparticles for different purposes
  • Raman spectroscopy, Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS)
  • UV/Vis Spectroscopy, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, Flow Cytometry, HPLC, FT-IR, NMR, SEM, AFM, GPC, and Zeta-Sizer
